Variable selection

Select only data that fits.

After loading a dataset, use the variable icon to pick the variable you want to visualize and click plot.

Variable name

Shows the variable's name as stored in the dataset. If the name is not provided by the metadata it is set to undefined.

Attributes

Additional information about variables can be seen by clicking on the attributes button — e.g. units, long_name, standard_name, fill values, and any other attributes stored alongside the variable.

Data shape

It shows the overall data shape, i.e. the length of every dimension of the variable (e.g. time × lat × lon = 46 × 72 × 1440).

Chunk size

If your variable is partitioned into chunks then here you will see the corresponding chunk dimensions. Chunking determines how much data is fetched per request — see Supported formats.

Sliders

If your data is too big then a set of sliders for selection will be shown. Use those to select an appropriate range along each dimension before plotting.

Slicing early keeps memory usage low: only the chunks that intersect your selected range are downloaded.

Plot

Click plot to render the selection. You can then change the plot type or adjust the colorbar.
